 MEFS

The only organization in the Middle East devoted exclusively to reproductive medicine.

MEFS is a voluntary, non-profit organization devoted to advancing knowledge and expertise in reproductive medicine.

The educational mission of the Middle East Fertility Society consists of a comprehensive educational program comprised of educational activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide reproductive medicine services for patients, the public and the profession.

History and Purpose

The idea to create a Middle East Fertility society was first conceived in Paris 1992 during Mefs meeting where Dr. Michel Abou Abdallah consulted Dr. Kamal Jaroudi, Dr. Mounir Rauf and Dr. Hassan Youssef about the need to conceive and discuss the possible foundation of a society that would stimulate the study and research in the field of reproductive medicine and science . Both, the idea to establish such a society and the outcome of their meetings proved to be successful in many ways. Within a year, Prof. Mohamad Aboulghar, Prof. Hassan Sallam and Dr. Mahmoud El Mutaweh joined the group and the first executive committee was formed.

Since that date the society has gradually developed into a well-structured body and is now a non-profit association regulated by special bylaws and duly registered in Beirut Lebanon. The bylaws have been officially recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior and were published according to the legal prescriptions in the bulletin of the Lebanese government under decree Nb. 57/AD dated February 27 , 1993. Published in the official bulletin Volume 10 dated March 11, 1993.

The Middle East Fertility Society is the only organization in the Middle East devoted exclusively to reproductive medicine. Founded in 1992, the society regroups nowadays a large number of members including  gynecologists and Obstetricians, Reproductive Endocrinologists, urologists, physicians, specialists involved in the field of reproduction, scientists, and other allied health professionals representing most countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Because of our diverse membership, the MEFS is uniquely positioned to provide information and advocacy for all areas of reproductive medicine.

The mandate of the MEFS is two-fold:
1. To promote excellence in all aspects of reproductive health care through education and research.
2.To represent reproductive medicine on the local, National and international levels.

The society is intended to foster cooperation between scientists, physicians and other persons working in this field and will cooperate with other scientific and medical societies, universities and any organization with related interests.
