Code of Practice

In an attempt to avoid some inappropriate occurrences, the MEFS organizers propose that, in a spirit of mutual cooperation, certain rules intended to secure high standards of promotional conduct during the meeting be accepted and adopted.
The MEFS Code of Practice for industrial participation and support is an integral part of a financial organizational agreement with pharmaceutical and biomedical companies. Its premises are:
a. The high appreciation of physicians for the major effort companies makes to support large international congresses.
b. Industrial promotion should not interfere with the official meeting scientific activities and should never be such as to be bringing discredit upon, or reduce the confidence in, the biomedical industry as a whole.
c.
Exhibitors are prohibited from scheduling any events, hospitalities, or gatherings which directly conflict with an official function of the MEFS for the entire duration of the Annual Meeting.

I
n accordance with these stipulations, the following rules should be accepted and adopted:
- The organizers of the meeting aim at organizing a scientific conference of the utmost scientific value allowing as many participants to attend the meeting as possible. The organizers of the meeting appreciate the support received of the pharmaceutical and medical industries and will ascertain that in proper evaluation and judgment sponsors according to importance and value will be recognized. The organizers, however, will ascertain that none of such acknowledgement will jeopardize a perfect and smooth scientific exchange during the MEFS meeting.
- It is the responsibility of the conference organizers that major sponsors with extra support for the meeting are being recognized as such. Other sponsoring will be earmarked and identified without jeopardizing the above-mentioned agreement. All decisions concerning presentations of sponsors in the program and inside the congress center as well as in the immediate surroundings of the congress center are subject to approval of the organizers and cannot be disputed.
